Applications now open: Amazon Sustainability Accelerator Climate Tech 2026

Startups and scale-ups with proven sustainability technology pitch for commercial pilots within Amazon’s European operations.

The Amazon Sustainability Accelerator (ASA) Climate Tech program in Europe connects startups and scale-ups with with Amazon to pilot technology that helps achieve the company's goal to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. Selected applicants participate in an eight-week program that culminates in a pitch to launch a fully funded pilot within Amazon's operations.

Following the close of applications in July, Amazon has selected 12 startups and scale-ups to join the 2026 ASA Climate Tech program. Over the next eight weeks (beginning in August),  the cohort will work intensively with Amazon's operations and sustainability teams to develop the business case for implementing their technology within Amazon's European fulfilment network. At the conclusion of the program, Amazon senior leadership will determine which participants move forward with fully funded pilots. 

The 12 companies span three tracks—building decarbonization, water stewardship, and biodiversity—across six countries throughout Europe. Here is the 2026 cohort:

1. Building decarbonization: Bonvan (France), HeatVenters (Hungary), MagnoTherm (Germany), Solum (Spain), UV Energy (Germany), Verv (UK)

2. Water stewardship: Nereus (France), SolarCleano (Luxembourg), Spacedrip (Estonia), Qatium (Spain)

3. Biodiversity: evolito (Denmark), Hula Earth (Germany)

For Amazon, reaching net-zero carbon requires more than ambition; it requires proven technology deployed at scale. But it can take years for climate tech startups to bring a product to a large-scale pilot at a global organization. The ASA Climate Tech program was built to fast-track that process.

Since the program’s 2024 launch, 28 startups from a pool of over 1,100 applicants have joined, and we’ve funded over $3 million in equity-free pilots across 16 projects. The program turns climate ambition into operational reality. Startups from our first two cohorts, such as Shayp, Cartesian, Solaq and Over Easy Solar, are already piloting solutions across Amazon's European fulfilment network in areas like energy, water, and waste, with early results informing decisions on wider deployment.

What sets this program apart 

A fast-track route to commercial pilots. This program compresses the typical lengthy process of pitching and navigating a large organization into two months, and at the end, startups have the chance to secure a live pilot, not just a certificate.

"ASA actually delivers," said Gregoire De Hemptinne, CEO and co-founder of Shayp, an AI-driven water monitoring company that participated in the program in 2025. "We got to pitch to the right people and craft a pilot together with clear information about what we needed to do at each step." 

Direct access to Amazon decision-makers. Amazon operates the program in collaboration with Founders Intelligence, an innovation strategy consulting firm under Accenture, pairing founders with senior leaders and sustainability specialists.

"Founders at this stage don't need another mentorship program," said Vishnupriya Gupta, ASA Climate Tech program lead. "They need access to the decision-makers, the data, and a clear answer. That's what eight weeks with Amazon's operations teams offer."

What we are looking for

We seek applications from companies at Technology Readiness Level 8 or higher—technology that's past the prototype stage and proven in real-world conditions—and with existing or planned European operations.

We also welcome applications from startups with other technologies that could directly reduce carbon, water use, or biodiversity loss across our operations. "Decarbonizing buildings is one of our most powerful levers toward net-zero carbon by 2040," said Brad Swartz, Amazon’s energy lead for European Operations Sustainability. "Cartesian's thermal batteries store and release heat with minimal energy loss, using no lithium or rare earths. Over Easy Solar's prefabricated rooftop units are designed for significantly faster installation than conventional systems. The accelerator is where promising climate tech meets Amazon-scale impact."

This year, we’re looking for program applications related to proven solutions across six key areas of building decarbonization: advanced energy storage; high-efficiency renewable generation with small footprints; high-performance HVAC and building envelope technologies; AI-powered energy management including digital twins, integrated control, and real-time analytics; grid-interactive buildings functioning as virtual power plants; and direct current microgrids for new builds.

Additionally, the program includes a track to help startups with technology that can support water stewardship across Amazon's operations.

"Opening our second water-focused track within the Climate Tech cohort, we're building on a strong 2025 launch,” said Liya Elizabeth Jacob, Amazon’s water lead for European Operations Sustainability. “Shayp secured a 60-site contract targeting 15% water reduction per building, and Solaq launched a pilot producing 1,000 liters of drinking water daily from ambient air.”

For this year’s cohort, we’re seeking innovators in water efficiency, circularity, and replenishment. Within our facilities, we’re focused on low- and no-flow fixture solutions at scale, water circularity systems that capture and reuse rainwater and gray water, and technologies that change the economics of on-site water management. We’re also looking for replenishment solutions for the regions where we operate that help utilities reduce water loss, protect watersheds, and enable recycled water distribution.

This year, we're also opening the program to startups with technology related to biodiversity.

"Amazon operates hundreds of sites across Europe, each with unique ecosystems,” said Richard Charlesworth, Amazon’s biodiversity lead for European Operations Sustainability. “We want to find companies who can help us monitor and improve ecological performance at scale—through remote sensing, AI-powered habitat assessment, and soil health tracking."

Startups and scale-ups with cost-effective technology that can monitor ecological performance across diverse site types, identify habitats requiring intervention, and track performance against commitments are encouraged to apply. The program is seeking solutions in automated habitat condition assessment, predictive analytics and early warning systems, soil health and carbon monitoring, species and biodiversity tracking, and water and air quality measurement.
